Enslins | Becoming a Chartered Accountant
Becoming a chartered accountant is a rigorous yet rewarding journey, shaping professionals who play pivotal roles in financial landscapes.
Step 1: The Foundation Years
High school lays the groundwork. Ace those mathematics exams for a university entrance with a focus on accounting. You’d be surprised by how these accounting classes can form the bedrock of your future logical thinking.
Once you start focusing on your university endeavours, choosing a SAICA-recognised degree is pivotal. Enroll in one of the universities listed on the SAICA website.
Step 2 and 3: The Degree Odyssey
Completing a rigorous degree is vital. The next milestone is the Certificate in the Theory of Accounting (CTA), often done part-time. It’s a challenging journey, but the dedication pays off. Some of our Enslins branches also offer scholarships to help you along the way!
Step 4: Training Contract
As part of your journey, a training contract with a registered office is required. This can follow the completion of your degree and/or CA qualification, or be pursued concurrently with any distance learning studies you choose to pursue. Depending on your choice and progress, this is a 3 to 5-year commitment. Enslins values the journey of training, acknowledging it as a crucial period of hands-on learning. Your training contract can be completed at certain Enslins offices; contact us to find out more!
Step 5: Board Exams
Passing the Initial Test of Competence (ITC) and the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC) exams, set by SAICA, is the crux. While these exams can be intense, the sense of accomplishment when you have passed will be worth it.
Step 6: CA Designation
After completing the training contract and board exams, you’re eligible to register as a chartered accountant (CA) with SAICA. This is a moment of pride, and Enslins celebrates each CA in its fold.
Enslins, with its diverse team of CAs, exemplifies the dedication and resilience needed for this journey. Join us on this path, where your passion for accounting meets a community committed to excellence.
